Steve Maxwell

Steve Maxwell works with leaders and teams to help them become more effective, using methods including consulting, coaching, design and facilitation. He is particularly excited about org design and strategy work, because of its potential to work at a systemic level to improve performance across an entire organization. He also works in leadership development, team effectiveness, L&D consulting and managing change. His superpowers include systemic thinking, speaking truth to power and providing clarity in complex situations.
Steve worked at Google for 16 years, leading Global Learning Programs, multiple L&D Business Partner teams and Custom Solutions. He led the project team which designed Google’s org design methodology, and has used it extensively: consulting to senior leaders, presenting to senior managers and training HR Business Partners.
He is a Certified Professional Coactive Coach (CPCC) with the Coaches Training Institute and has a Bachelors and Ph.D. in Mathematics from Oxford University. He currently lives in the San Francisco Bay Area with his wife and 2 children, and can be entertained by soccer, theater or music.He is based in the Bay Area, CA.
